Questions, answered plainly

On iPhone, open Find My, go to Items and add a new item. On Android, open Find Hub and add a device. Then press the button once on your FYNDR to power it on and start pairing, you will hear a short start-up tone. On the Tag the button is on the face of the tag; on the Card it sits at the top right of the front. Hold it next to your phone and follow the prompt. That is the whole setup. There is no FYNDR app to install, because your FYNDR lives inside the finding app your phone already has.

Each FYNDR pairs to one account at a time, so you choose Apple Find My or Google Find Hub when you set it up. The point of dual-system support is that the same product works whichever phone you carry, and you can move it between ecosystems if you switch phones. Unpair it from the old account first, then pair it fresh.

The FYNDR Card is 1.8 mm thick and made to live in a wallet or cardholder. It has a built-in rechargeable battery with wireless charging and an IP68 water rating. The FYNDR Tag is a 6.8 g round tag with a moulded keyring loop, runs about 12 months on a replaceable CR2032 coin cell, and is splash and knock resistant rather than fully waterproof. Same networks, same features, different shape.

The FYNDR Card gives 3 to 4 months of standby per charge and recharges wirelessly, with no cable and no port to wear out. The FYNDR Tag runs roughly 12 months on a CR2032 coin cell, which you can buy in any supermarket or hardware shop and swap yourself in under a minute.

The FYNDR Card is rated IP68. It will survive a downpour, a spilt drink, or a wallet that goes into a washing machine pocket. The FYNDR Tag is splash and knock resistant: rain, sweat and a wet keyring are fine, but it is not rated for full submersion. Do not take the Tag swimming.

Range is not really the point. The Apple Find My and Google Find Hub networks use other people’s passing phones to report a location back to you, anonymously and encrypted. In practice that means there is no hard distance limit anywhere those phones exist. Across town or across the country, if a phone passes it, you get a location.

You will usually see a last-known location, and you may keep getting location updates as the item passes other phones. Turn on Lost Mode so you get an alert the moment it is spotted again. Be honest with yourself about what happens next: a tracker is evidence, not a recovery service. Do not go and confront anyone. Give the location and the alerts to the police or your insurer and let them act on it.

iPhones have built-in unwanted-tracker detection and will warn you if an unknown item is travelling with you. Android has equivalent alerts. The same protections that make the networks useful also make them hard to abuse.

iOS 14.5 and later, which covers iPhone SE, iPhone 6S and everything newer. On Android you need version 9 or later.

FYNDR partners with an established consumer-electronics manufacturer to build our trackers. Early units from our first validation batch may carry the manufacturer’s own device markings rather than a FYNDR-branded finish. The product, firmware, warranty, and support are all FYNDR’s. Custom FYNDR-branded units are in production for future batches.

Orders are delivered from South Africa by South African couriers: The Courier Guy, Aramex SA or PostNet-to-PostNet, with PAXI and Pargo pickup points where available. Delivery times are quoted in business days and confirmed at checkout. Delivery cost: R99 nationwide, free on orders of R750 and over.

Every FYNDR product carries a 1 year warranty against manufacturing defects, regardless of the markings on the physical unit. Changed your mind? You have 14 days from delivery to request a return. Email us with your order number and what the problem is, and send the item back unused and in its original packaging with everything that came in the box. A faulty unit is a separate matter: the return window does not apply and we will never refuse it because the box has been opened. The full policy is on the Returns page.
